About me

Arben Theodhosi was born in 1953, in Tirana.

1991 – One of the Albanian artists participating in the “forbidden Art” exhibition held in Vienna.

1992 – First one-man exhibition at the National Art Gallery in Tirana, featuring 40 oil paintings realized during his 15 years of exile.

1993 – Completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana, which had been interrupted for 15 years, from 1975 to 1990, when he was subjected to internal exile and forced labor in a copper mine as a result of his father’s political position ( Koço Theodhosi, member of politburo and Minister of Industry and Mines was sentenced to death in 1977 by the dictatorial regime).

1994 – Exhibition at the Center of Fashion and Design sponsored by William Walters, featuring 25 oil paintings.

1995 – Awarded the First Prize “Onufri 95” by the National Art Gallery in Tirana for his allegorical painting “Noah’s Ark”

1996 – Exhibition at the National Gallery of Arts in Tirana, sponsored by Debora Whalberg.

1994-1996 – Theodhosi was employed in the Institute of the Monuments in Tirana.

1996-1998 – It was a good experience to work in Greece for a couple of foreign Galleries. In this period, based on Theodhosi’s art and life experience, the Dutch film directors Arnold Verhofstad and Frans Kuipers realized the documentary “Between Chameleons”.

2002 – Exhibition in Italy (Arezzo) organized and sponsored by IOM, UCODEP and Region of Toscana.

2005 – Exhibition in Holland, organized by the Albanian Embassy in The Hague.

2007 – Exhibition dedicated to Mother Teresa, featuring paintings by 4 artists: Theodhosi, Leka, Blloshmi and Nallbani.

2009 – Exhibition in Malta (Valletta), organized by the National Museum of Fine Arts.

2010 – Exhibition in Strasbourg, organized by The Club of Arts of Council of Europe.

Memories and theoretic reflections of Theodhosi can be found in his editions “Revocation”, “Challenging the Limits”, “Tracking the Different”, “At the Seventh Station” and “Ahriman”.

Paintings by Theodhosi can be found in private collections throughout the world.

Among the most appreciated is the painting “purple Crucifix”, which is now part of the modern art collection of “Albino Luciani” Museum in Vittorio Veneto (TV), Italy.
